Common percentage formulas

Percentage of a number: value × percentage ÷ 100.

What percent A is of B: A ÷ B × 100.

Example

18% of ₹2,000 is ₹360 because 2,000 × 18 ÷ 100 = 360.

Important considerations

Percentage points and percentage change are not the same thing. For example, moving from 10% to 15% is an increase of 5 percentage points but a 50% relative increase.

Limitations

The calculator performs the mathematical operation you select; it does not determine whether a particular percentage is legally, financially or commercially applicable.
