How to use the GST Calculator

  1. Enter the amount.
  2. Choose whether the amount is GST-exclusive or GST-inclusive.
  3. Enter the applicable GST rate.
  4. Calculate to see the GST amount and final/base value.

GST calculation

For a GST-exclusive amount: GST = Base amount × GST rate ÷ 100. Final amount = Base amount + GST.

For a GST-inclusive amount: GST = Inclusive amount × GST rate ÷ (100 + GST rate).

Example

If the base price is ₹1,000 and the selected GST rate is 18%, GST is ₹180 and the GST-inclusive amount is ₹1,180.

Important considerations

  • Use the GST rate applicable to the relevant goods or services.
  • CGST/SGST and IGST treatment depends on the nature and place of supply.
  • This calculator does not determine tax classification or eligibility.

Limitations

GST classification, exemptions, place-of-supply rules and invoicing requirements can require facts that a simple calculator cannot determine. Verify the applicable rate and rules from official GST guidance.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove GST from an inclusive price?

Multiply the inclusive amount by the GST rate and divide by 100 plus the GST rate. This gives the GST component.

Does this calculator decide which GST rate applies?

No. You select the rate. The applicable rate depends on the goods or services and the relevant GST rules.
